I have been on a weight loss journey since January of this year, 2018. (Although my struggle of being overweight has been going on for the past 4 years). I was 60 pounds overweight and completely out of shape and depressed. I decided to change my entire life/ lifestyle around. I wasn't sure where to turn. Then I found Crossfit. This was absolutely life changing for me! The box I became a part of showed me that CrossFit is truly more than just a sport, it helps you gain such mental toughness and clarity. I became part of a community and made friends that became family members.
Through a seminar at my box I learned of the keto diet and started on that. The premise seemed easy... do not go over 20 net carbs per day and you would get your energy source from fat. Of course, there is much more to it but I'm trying to condense this. I was able to lose 50 pounds over 7 months successfully, however, my experience was that my energy levels were substantially decreased and it would not be a sustainable lifestyle for me. I believe keto is great for some people, I am not bashing the diet at all, it just particularly wasn't suitable for my body and what I wanted to achieve. Â
I had lost about 50 pounds and was happy with my smaller physique but was not feeling toned and strong. Then I learned of my fellow athletes who were on the RP system through my CrossFit box (along with many other reviews on social media).
As suggested I took a couple week break from keto (reverse diet) and slowly began to transition back into a higher carb lifestyle. This was scary for me as I was expecting to gain all the weight back. However, with doing CrossFit 6 days a week and not binging on food just simply adding and healthy carbs back in, I was able to maintain my weight (give or take a couple pounds).
When I started on the RP diet I was in love with the template and how easy they made it. After the first week I could feel increased energy levels and my strength building in the Box. Once I transitioned into fat loss 1 I began to see the physical results of my body getting leaner and toner. I am now on my third month of the system and still remaining on fat loss 2 (as I am losing the appropriate amount of weight per week). I find it extremely exciting to see how much my body has transformed, my composition has changed completely and now I have gains and losses in all the right places! I anticipate on doing the 16-week plan, then going on to maintenance and then possibly starting another cut. I can't wait to see where RP can take me!
