Why Choose James:
"I have had the privilege of being an instructor and a coach in numerous capacities throughout my career. I really enjoy paying forward everything I have learned about fitness and sport to students, athletes, and people trying to reach their fitness goals. I can work with anyone, whether they are a complete beginner or advanced athlete. I am happy to meet people where they are and give them the best guidance I can.
My goals as a coach are to help expand my clients knowledge, skills, and abilities relating to their fitness goals. A large part of that is helping them understand the tradeoffs and compromises needed between the lifestyle they would like to live, and their fitness goals. I always want to give my clients the respect of an autonomous adult who can ultimately make their own decisions, and my role is to help guide and align those decisions towards their short and long term goals.
I am very big into promoting mindfulness strategies to deal with the inevitable discomforts of hard diet and training. I want my clients to be aware of the thoughts, feelings, and physical sensations they will be dealing with and to become increasingly adept at managing them. I try my best to give honest feedback that is thoughtful, supportive, and respectful. Even in less than ideal circumstances, I want my clients to know that I am on their side and trying to point them in what I believe to be the best path forward towards progress "
